I was only a few years ago, a neighbor asked me what I thought about using finials on her fence. I told her I hadn’t really ever thought about it before and went inside as quickly as possible because I had no idea what she was talking about. I am not a snob but when something is said and I have no idea what it is, I am on a mission to find out what I am missing. It didn’t take me long to discover the artistic beauty of the fence finial.

Of course, I found out that finials are everywhere. If you look closely, they are all around your neighborhood and on TV and movies in droves lending beauty and detail to the environment. In fact, you can find decorative finials on banisters, flag poles and decks. They are not just for fences. I should know as I now have incorporated finials inside and out and find them utterly fascinating. The workmanship and beauty that is discovered in every one of them is masterful. I prefer the hand-crafted but there are those that are machine made and both can be painted or stained as you choose. They are both fun and fancy and easy to enjoy.
